What to expect at the show

Recommended Posts

We are planning our family trip to the show this year,   my son is thinking about taking his camper and we are leaving thursday morning.

What is the possibility of a  camping spot with electric still being  available by noon, i know this is a first come basis, hoping to see if anyone has a idea of what has happened in the past

What type of venders can we expect, i need a engine for my rj58 and a decent lawn ranger for my grandson

Thanks, any advice will be appreciated

On Thursday noon, I would think you'll have no problem with camping, but I can't answer for sure . . . . I get there in the evening Thursday and stay in a motel in Chambersburg, 20 minutes away.

Showers are very good, Food available there (via a church group) is excellent but they do run out of some things, especially on Saturday afternoon.  Evenings are busy, fun and sharing.

Venders, probably over 100 people selling; averaging a pick-up load to several flat-top semi-trailer loads per person, I'm sure you have no trouble finding lots of engines and tractors to choose from.  Bring a camera to record. Early Friday morning things really move, "the early bird . . . ".   I would guess at least 4-500 restored Wheel Horses on display.  take a look at the last few years of pictures.

Just like Glenn said... you should not have an issue locating an RJ engine... may not be the correct Spec Number and all but plenty of good Kohlers and Clintons available.

In the past few years I have seen it hit or miss for engines. The k91s are getting harder to find...

The main thing is to watch out for marauding  hordes of Wheel Horse nuts. Case in point:

I would post a want ad in the classifieds mentioning that you will be at the show looking for a good K91 and a Lawn Ranger. I'm pretty sure you will get a reply. It has always worked for me in the past. One of our members here (Fireman) scored a very nice Lawn Ranger at the show last yr. at a very good price.

IF I were to be able to make it to this BIG show. What would i expect the going prices to be for some decent tractors. I am looking  for a few to repaint and repair. ( 57,58,59rj's-60,61,62 suburbans). for example the1960- 400 i picked up- I paid $400 not running but pretty good shape.

I picked up this Lawn Ranger last year at the show for $250. It had already been stripped and rebuilt with the exception of the hood. Came with the mower deck and 2 engines. It didn't come with the seat. My son found the NOS white one for $20 there.

How you see is pretty much how I got it minus the seat, and the paint on the hood.
