Seal question

Recommended Posts

What is the easiest way to remove the brake and drive shaft seals.  I see the axle seals are plastic and there is more room there to pick them out but the other 2 are tight on space and metal. And does the shift handle need to be removed to split the case?

Thanks

I remove those seal the same way as I remove the axle seals, with a dental pick.

The shifter handle should be removed first just for ease of work. It's done easily by backing out the set screw, so why leave it in?

Thanks Bob. The reason for the shifter question is the bolt is broke and I dont have a drill bit that will even touch it. I wanted to drill it and then use the easy out to remove but no luck there.

You have to remove the shifter to separate the tranny.  The shifter is mounted in the right half and the forks are mounted in the left. :)
