Vinyl Seat Repair

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had good luck patching small tears in a molded seat cover? I have a couple of tears about 3/4 in x3/4 in that need fixed. Something that had some body to it would probably work best, no just adhesive. Thanks!

I'm wondering the same thing. I would lilke to repair an old Wheel Horse seat that has the horse head on the back of the seat. I also need to repair a small split in a 1969 JD seat. It of course is yellow.

Permatex makes a vinyl repair kit for automotive seats.

I forget the link but, You Tube does have a video online. Looks worth the try.

I have a WH high back with logo needing repair also. A friend tells me, recommends a local automotive seat repair local company that he knows. He states, "Guy is great, does good work."

I'll have to stop by his shop.

I looked at the Permatex repair kit in an auto parts supplier. Comes with the small flat 110v iron, kit was around $15.00.

I decided to try black RTV silicone to patch my seat. I may try it tomorrow, and will post here how it turns out.

Thank you Tankman for the suggestion.

I used a vinyl seat repair kit. It worked well. I would suggest using a soldering iron with the flat metal disk inserted in it. Instead of heating the disk off a iron. It worked better when I bonded the liquid vinyl.
