wh17 1 #1 Posted April 11, 2013 My friend has a tractor he bought the guy claimed it was a 14 but the engine shield say k301 I was wondering if there was a way to know for sure with out taking the head off and it's on a cub cadet so i can't see what it says on the block thanks Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

SCOOBY 312-h 14 #5 Posted April 11, 2013 some 301's have that mark some dont,,,,,,you definatly want to measure the bore and the stroke. i just bought a 301 from a guy for my cub and it doesnt have any marks on it that say 301 except the flywheel shroud. and if you have k301 on the flywheel shroud it should be a 12 horse kohler, if im not wrong the 14 horse shroud will not fit the 12 horse engine.
