squonk 41,365 #1 Posted April 6, 2013 Marvin had a very weak Eaton 1100. I was sweeping the yard last weekend and when I got half a basket full it would barley get out of it's own way. Changed the Hydro oil to Mobil 1 and added a NAPA 1410 filter and it's 75-80% better. Hooked up the tall salad shooter to test the PTO and all is well so the blower went to the Horse Tack Shack. Then hooked the roller to it which is more weight than the sweeper and did some fancy yard rollin for about an hour. Then went to the yard cart and loaded up the TP turbine and HLVP gun and stained all the fences. I know I'm tired. Not sure about Marvin.
rmaynard 15,610 #2 Posted April 6, 2013 Do you think it was the Mobil 1 or just the fact that you gave it an oil change and new filter?
squonk 41,365 #3 Posted April 6, 2013 I think it was the Mobil. The old oil didn't look bad. Mobil 1 has superior anti shear and high heat capabilities compared to standard oil. There's a whole lot a shearing goin on in a hydro.
Kevbo 80 #4 Posted April 7, 2013 Glad to hear a successful Mobil 1 story. I bought Mobil 1 10W-30 and put it in my GT-1800 and used the Mobil 1 synthetic ATF in my 1075. Stories like this make me feel confident in my transmissions! Thanks squonk!
Wheel-N-It 2,969 #5 Posted April 7, 2013 Duke advised me to use Mobile 1 in my 417-A after purchasing it one year ago. The Mobile 1 worked great in my Hydro all last Summer withoud fading or slipping ever. I'll be running it again this Summer too. Happy to hear your Hydro is working well Mike.
Kelly 1,029 #6 Posted April 7, 2013 It's not a cure for a bad trans, (Mobil 1 that is) but it is dang good oil, in my area it runs about $25 for a 5qt jug, so it's about $8 more than reg oil, not cheap stuff but good oil, I'm a Mobil 1 user and will be forever, just remember it's not a cure all, a good oil and new filter no mater what brand is a good thing.
