Anyone running a 10hp kohler starter generator on c series??

Recommended Posts

I am looking to see if anyone here has a C series that has been converted over to a starter generator k241 10hp motor? I picked up a nice original rubber mounted C101 or C121 today with a blown motor (motor off and long gone) and the seller had a 10hp starter generator k241 he included in the deal. Looking for advise on installing it on the tractor. I know the rubber mount plate will need to be removed. I am also wondering if I can install the later style pto as this motor only has the crank with a small drive pulley on it. Any adivse and/or pictures or examples of this would be real helpful. I am not lookng to make a lot of modifications to do this. Thanks !!

If got a c121 with a srarter gen engine on it. You will have to rewire the hole tractor and have a voltage reg. For a starter gen. The pto should fit as long as the engine has a 1 1/8 shaft. I had to fab the bottom mount for the pto loop. I can post pics if you would like.

That is a great help. thanks again. Looks like i have a little project ahead of me. I will post some pics of the tractor once i get it unloaded. I picked it up to use at my mother in law's house for mower duty. Now I will need to find a 1054 wiring diagram.

I used this one for snow plow duty. Was very impressed. Not bad for a engine i got from a scrap yard for 10 bucks.

Got the motor running fine after cleaning the points! Have it sitting on the frame with the rubber mount cradle off. Can you get me the measurements from the front of the frame to the motor? Also, which holes did you use to mount to the frame? Looks like I may have to drill some and I may only be able to get one side of the motor holes mounted as the other side hangs off the frame slightly. This is pretty common as I think one of my 300 series was the same.

I didnt have to drill any holes in the frame they were already there. My oil pan has two holes underneath it to bolt it up to the frame on the right side. They do hang off the frame on the right side.

Stevebo, can you post a pic of your oil pan? I put a K341s off a 16Auto on my C121 Auto. Pulled the Iso mount and all the holes were already there and everything lined up perfectly. Look to the K181 or briggs powered Horses for 1 inch PTO parts.

I ended up selling this one to my next door neighbor who caught the wheelhorse bug. He truckin88's 417 from me in the fall too. I kept the original high back wheel horse seat in excellent condition and 42 inch rear discharge deck. We spent the better part of the day working on it and getting the engine mounted and wired up. Had to clean up the fuel pump, new fuel lines, wiring etc etc. She runs excellent now!!

I have another question on this. The engine is a 10hp starter generator motor with 1 1/8 shaft. It is a hydro. Can anyone who has this set up tell me the correct pulley size? It is also missing the entire PTO. So ... if anyone has a complete set up that is correct for this machine, please let me know. I really like the stance of this one and how the starter/generator sort of fills up the engine area. Looks pretty stout to me. I may be having seller's remorse...

I assume the correct size engine pulley is 5 1/4 inch x 1 1/8 id x 5/8 belt size?
