(one of the red ones is a ring in) was going crazy with no room and much disorganization in my garage of late, so nice day outside, out they all came to make room for a clean up. heres how they looked all lined up..... also since this was the first time id got the c125 out since putting some new shoes on, heres a couple of it....... this tractor drives sweet now with the new tires, nice soft ride, and the steering is nice and easy too..... this one is definitely my favorite at the moment.... Martin 2,131 #8 Posted March 30, 2013 thanks for the comments guys, yep, i really think i did well with the c125. it started off as probably the roughest one ive bought out of all of them. but it went back together so easily and i just love the tough look of this series..... it was always crying out for some big rubber under the rear, so im glad i went with the 24 x 12 -12's on it. i really like the way the turf masters ride as well, much nicer tire than the turf savers ive bought in the past. that pile of parts c175 i picked up early in the month may just end up like this one down the road. will have to find another engine as the kt17 is staying in the 682 and its getting a new life as well. just saving as many as i can, i cant help it...... Martin 2,131 #18 Posted March 31, 2013 (edited) terry, i never thought id be a cub owner, just dont like the color scheme of the white and yellow ones. but the reds are, well, red....... its actually a pretty stout tractor, that kohler twin has good power, and the hydro really puts that power to the ground. it will lift the front tires off the ground quite easily...... at the moment it has my c125 wheels/tires that i originally had on that before the wider ones. the cub had a split tire so it needs fixing, but they came with 12 x 8.5 wide wheels and 23 x 10.50-12.... its got some width to the hood and frame too, i think some wide wheels for this one, like the c125, will look good. i will get you some pics and dimensions of the decals.... They effect the air flow. ive heard for and against with running the side panels. my boss ( who i got this one from) used to do a bunch of repair work on cubs back when these things were new and through lack of maintenance these panels only hindered the cooling of the engine. lots of them were removed and never reinstalled. i figure if the screen under the frame is kept clean then it wouldnt be an issue..... i would like them on the tractor but i need to find a set first. most of us guys that look after these things with regular maintenance and cleaning probably wouldnt have such issues. other brands of tractors did just fine without this sort of covering though, look at the blackhoods, i think as long as you have good airflow into the blower housing and all the engine shrouds are present and undamaged, the engine would cool just as kohler intended. thanks for your input though, ive been spending some time learning about this one on the occ forum and think ive seen some of your posts on there? just like this forum lots of good info, steering box and front end rebuild is badly needing done and will be my next area of attention on the 682....... papaglide 542 #24 Posted March 31, 2013 Martin, I have read the pro's and cons from OCC also (and posted there as well) and drew up the conclusion that IH designed them for a purpose....we just haven't truly figured it out yet!! You are probably correct regarding the maintenance aspect of operating these things: keep it clean and there won't be any problems. Speaking of Cubs, I have owned a few(104, 127, 169, 1200 come to mind) but am phasing them out in favor of the rides from South Bend! Ease of maintenance and simpler design are my 2 biggest reasons. Martin 2,131 #25 Posted March 31, 2013 I know what you mean about working on these things. Give me a wh any day for doing engine work on, the sideways engine thing sucks. Simple job like retorqueing head bolts is a pain since you need to get to the bottom shroud bolts to gain access. Frame design around the engine could have been more maintenance friendly. I think I can deal with it though. I've learnt to bend and twist my hands and arms in so many different ways......!
