551 two piece transaxle seal

Recommended Posts

Captnb

Hi everybody,

I've got what I believe to be a 1961 551 with a two piece transaxle.

Does anyone know where to buy the outer seal?

It has the roller bearings and it looks like the rubber seal is attached.

Are they just pressed in? Any info or knowledge would be great.

The trans for that horse should be a 5007 uni-drive.  If you are looking for the axle seal, it is a SKF 9815.  I get them from Motion Industries, and they do tap in...or press in.  The gasket between the 2 halves of the trany case is WH# 3912...available from your Toro dealer.

Welcome to Red Square... :):woohoo:

You will not find a part number on the casting...the number there is a casting number.  Looks like a #5007 to me.  There are some threads on this site that can help you with that trans if you need...pictures and videos. :)  If you can't find them, let me know here and I can give you a link.  One thing for sure...when you go to put it back together you want to start with the shallow half of the trans case down and build it back in that side.
