The start of my 753 Resto

Recommended Posts

xenon213

Hi I'm new to the forum and new to wheel-horse tractors in general. I've rebuilt tractors in the past mostly cubs and case but last week i ran across a wheeled that caught my eye and at 100 bucks i couldn't pass it up. My brother has a 653 so i thought maybe i could freshen this one up to show by his. I brought her home and a little work and gas and she fired up and idled. I figured id post some pics and keep posted on progress and maybe get a little insight from those of experience. So far i know tank needs a market an d the engines a 8 hp kohler

I thought I would post some pics of the parts I had a chance to media blast today, they came out looking pretty good :woohoo: . I found a couple of things to fix it looks like the hood half may need a few tack welds, and I notice some epoxy like stuff down by the bottom mount not sure if it's original or a fix. Also found noticed a slight chunk missing on the sidecover Il have to go over, but overall I'm pretty happy with the way it all looks. Also does anybody know if the gasket for the two peice tank is available or will I have to make one?? Any help appreciated :thanks:

I had a chance to prime those parts last night so after i scuffed them with water and a red scotchbrite pad i painted them with sunshine red rustoleum. Hoping to move onto the frame soon :)

Some nice work there Sir, she's going to be a beaut when she is finished..

I like the shade of red, it looks a little darker in your photo's than the normal WH red. It may just be the photo making it that shade of course, but I do like it... Just what I need for my 6X6

I appreciate the compliments i was pretty happy with the results, its a nice color though it may be a little darker like you said. When i peeled back the decals the original paint was a little lighter but i like the shade. Id love to see the 6x6 sounds unique is it original?

I had a chance to work on the hood today and thought id post some pics of the progress. I used a high build primer , let the primer cure over night. Then i wetsanded the primer with 600 grit then finished with 1200. I was pretty happy with the way it came out :) hopefully i can get to the rear end and frame soon.
