Electric power steering a possibility?

Anybody have any thoughts on putting electric power steering on a tractor? I was looking at a new car the other day and thought about this because I've been considering trying to put power steering on my 520H, but cost and labor makes it daunting. Doing a little research I see there are two types of systems essentially--one goes on the rack and one on the steering column itself? Couldn't maybe the column mounted ones be made to go on a tractor steering column, and maybe activated by sensors or relays? Just a crazy thought and I wanted to see what everyone thought the pros and cons might be? Not sure i have the mechanical or electrical knowledge or even the time to make it happen, but I might take a stab at it if I can hear some suggestions? Thanks!

Some of the Kubota GR's use electric power steering. Works off of the column, thats all I know about it though.

You would need a fast set up, or steering would be very slooooow

i have planed to put electric steering on my 417-8 diesel wheel horse, but my back is n/g so it will have to wait. i have all the parts ready. i will also put on remote steering.  russ

been looking into this for some time, 90% of compact cars in Europe are now electric power steering. The trouble is that there are a lot of electronics in the column and it goes back to the ECU.

 

I was hoping it was a simple thing, there are lots of threadds on upgrading older type cars to electric power steering....

Remote steering? You mean like you could sit on the porch with a pina colada and steer the tractor around the yard? That sounds fantastic!
