RollTideMike84 0 #1 Posted March 25, 2013 Hello guys and gals! I just bought a wheel horse and first and foremost have no idea what I have. From what it looks like the tractor has issues. I will post again tomorrow after work and see what y'all think. Man told me it was a 1965, turns out it may be a Frankenstein of Wheel Horse tractors so to speak. I live in Mobile, Alabama. I'm a welder and fabricator and 28yrs old. Family man with 4 acres that need working and a driveway that never stops washing. Bought the little tractor to work the property. Turns out its going to need some work first. Anyways just an introduction for now. Just wanted to say hello.

RollTideMike84 0 #7 Posted March 25, 2013 Hello and sorry the wife is supposed to help with pics in a few minutes. I have a serial number which leads me to believe the little WH is probably c-125 with a 1966-67? 10 hp kohler , spec no. K241S- 46333D* was tough to read. The tractor has a black front and top of hood but is red otherwise. stickers painted over or removed. I had to do rubbings on the tags to get serial numbers. They are nearly worn smooth off. The chassis has uni drive transmission model 2988185, maybe a 5091 tranny? 8 speed manual. A problem with the Hi Lo gearing. the tractor is stuck in Lo gear. It fires right up . The tractor runs but runs slow. The brake band is wore slap out and needs replacing. Some help with the model number would be awesome. Also the grommet in the plastic tank on the rear of the tractor is leaking . The gas tank is U shaped and slides into a bracket under the seat pan. Battery sits in the engine compartment up top. The seals on the axles are leaking slowly and looks to need replacing as well. Mainly I want to know if it's a job I can do myself to replace the shifter fork which is probably broken so I get no Hi gear.Is it a job someone with some decent mechanic skills can do? I would like to do it myself. A part number would be fantastic if yall could point me in the right direction. I can do the legwork but a website would also be of help. I want to make her run like she should first then take care of the minor things like making her pretty. The tractor want to work, she just works SLOWLY. RollTideMike84 0 #8 Posted March 25, 2013 I found a common fuel tank bushing and gas cut off valve on ebay for about 14$ shipped. is this something my local parts house should have and maybe cheaper? Mainly looking for the hi lo shifter fork part number I dunno where to start there. Also the axle seals for the 8 speed transmission.
RollTideMike84 0 #9 Posted March 25, 2013 according to parts tree the serial number01- 08k802-18523 gives me a c-81 8 speed garden tractor! A new shift fork is $ 52.67 from parts tree . I dont know what the part would be thats causing the gear oil to leak out? The special snap ring?Or the differential end cap?
Sparky-(Admin) 21,318 #10 Posted March 26, 2013 Mike, now that you know what machine you have stick a post in the Transmission section. It'll get more attention/views there than it will here in the introductions section. Mike..................

It is in fact a 1981 C-85 8-speed. Garry
