Thehunter 9 #27 Posted March 28, 2013 so i decided to cut out the entire transaxle mount and fabricate a 5/16" steel plate to fill the void. here's a shot of the quick mock up in progress... I drew up the plate in CAD... also, the UPS man came bearing gifts, 2 new tri-ribs for the front...

Thehunter 9 #30 Posted March 29, 2013 My friend fabbed up a replacement battery bracket from my CAD file. I checked the fit using the old battery, and i need another 1/8" in the width, it's a little too tight. I was hoping to tack this in place this weekend, but i'll have to wait. Thehunter 9 #32 Posted April 1, 2013 Hi guys, did some good work on the horse this saturday. My buddy fabbed another battery bracket 1/8" wider, and this one fit like a glove!
Thehunter 9 #33 Posted April 1, 2013 now it was on to the transaxle mount. I used 5/16" steel, about twice as thick as stock... 1. first I bolted the new plate to the original to justify the location of the mounting holes second, i scribed lines to mark the location for my 2 cuts next, I clamped a piece of bar stock along one of the lines to act as a guide while cutting with the angle grinder Then i cut out the center section Here's how it will look when tacked... old plate next to the new one, this should be pretty beefy! Thehunter 9 #38 Posted April 4, 2013 decided to split the tranny last night to see how it looked. when i drained the oil it was a little milky so there must have been some water that passed thru the boot. i've never split a tranny before, so i'll try to document what I do in case anyone is curious. all the gears looked good which i was happy about. where the 2 balls/spring/pin go, there seems to be a plug of some sort in the case. does that punch out because it seems you'll need access to that passage... Thehunter 9 #46 Posted April 9, 2013 Lookin real nice. What kind of paint did you choose to use? Hi Ken, I used Rustoleum Regal Red, Rustoleum rusty metal primer on the cast parts, and Rustoleum high build primer on the frame. After priming I used soapy water followed by alcohol followed by a tack cloth prior to shooting the color. Your Brave . Good job rookie. You are now a veteran. haha, thanks Dave!
