Martin 2,132 #26 Posted March 29, 2013 the ammeter is faulty. i put a dvm on the battery and im getting 14.2 while running. that gauge is all over the place, showing discharge when there is charge, and charge when you load the electrical. it will get replaced. i tried to save the hour meter as well but too much corrosion inside, even after very carefully getting the bezel and lens off and cleaning it with electrical cleaner. got it nice and dry and had it running by itself for about 10 minutes before it let out a puff of magic smoke and that was the end of that. the tractor sat out in a field for a few years and had evidence of water damage through both gauges. the ammeter tested ok before yesterday, but i guess starting and running was too much for it. i think im done with the 'engine' part of this thread now, except for maybe a install on the oil filter adapter.... I will probably start another thread in the 'other brands' section for future work on the tractor. it will get rebuilt, but im going to spend some time first getting the steering to work easier with a rebuild on the box and a roller thrust washer, plus work on the front steering geometry, which looks all screwed up . this thing steers terrible.......
