The making of a 856.....my own.

I figured it was time to start a post on the customization and reassmbly of the 1966 856 I was given a few years back.I didnt have a garden tractor at the time and it didnt take long for me to fall in love with this little horse. She worked hard for me for a year or so and then I tore her down.....for a freshen up so she can serve me well and look better doing it for years to come. My intentions from the start were to fix/replace all things needed to allow her to do so with a few of my own custom touches along the way. So here are a few pictures of where im currently at.

Here are some of the front end parts ready for reinstall.........................

The Kohler going back together with some fresh paint. I likes the idea of breaking up all that red with some black in the middle.

As seen in another of my posts I chopped the hood for some lights, have a sweet hood ornament thanks to my wife. Going to get some new sneakers and maybe a few other things along the way. Main body parts are ready for primer and paint. Just need it to warm up a tad so maybe during the week or next weekend. Hoping to have a worker within the next month. Spring is springing in my neck of the woods.

Few more parts.......The seat pan was heavily pitted under the seat area. I did a 5' body job on it. The new seat was purchased for $10 at a swap meet. Blasted and painted in Rustoleum almond. And the drive belt gaurd. Not sure what/if im going to do about decals. Maybe they to will be custom to make it more my own.

The wife loves all the parts I have scattered around the house to dry. LOL

Hey Thanks!!  Sadly the Mrs. rides her real horses ALOT more then the 856 or me. Ahwell happy wife happy life right? At least I have the 856 to ride. She's 6 weeks away from giving birth to our first child. I can hardly get within 2ft of her. I think she bucked at me the other day!
