Does any know the torque spec for axle bolts on a D180

Recommended Posts

In the process of going through the transaxle. Was wonder if anyone knows the spec for the four bolts to bolt the axles back together. I have read on a different site where someone said replace with grade 8 bolt and nuts, and use red loctite and torque at 30-35 ft lbs. Does anyone know if this sounds correct. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you talking about the bolts that hold the differential together?? If so yes replace them with grade 8 if they haven't already been. I don't have a repair manual so I can't help with the torque spec.

30-35 ft lbs is correct.

I got Grade 9 bolts and lock nuts from McMaster.

Locktite won't hurt (but I think red maybe overkill...)
