The 520 Snow Show

Recommended Posts

Ken B

I got hit with 2 ft of snow when the Blizzard tore thru CT. The 520 looks pretty innocent but when she puts on her work dress she is all Biz. Grab a bowl of popcorn and enjoy the show, its a little long but I think its all good. Its not too often I get to push 2 ft of snow! The snow the plow truck left at the end of my driveway was wicked deep!

That machine had no problem at all.

I prefer to push snow but these are the storms that make the 2 stage worth every penny. Those huge piles seem to take forever to melt.

You are right about that John, I hate the piles and I'll actually take a shovel on a warm day and bust the piles down and spread the snow around so it melts faster. With my gravel driveway a blower will do lots of damage to my cars so that is a no go. Maybe someday.

Ken-

That old gal is a real worker for sure. You seem to have a good handle on how to make her work to her full potential. I agree that Onan sounds just right !!

No babying here, but I don't beat em either. My plan all along was to let the snow accumulate till it stopped and see what the 520 could honestly do, so in a way this was a test to get to know the tractors limits. I now know the 520 can push 2 ft of semi heavy snow pretty easily. Just the other day I got 10 inches of real heavy stuff and that was also a breeze. I'm not the type too run outside every hr or so to clear the snow for a little extra seat time. All that gets me is my gravel driveway spread everywhere I don't want it! LOL! Now, If I got the 3ft of snow that some of the other guys in CT did we really would have had some fun!

That sure is a nice 520 Ken. I hope I can find a nice low hour 520 like yours someday.

 # 3 years ago we got hit with a late March dump. I had a drift that was taller than my wife's Subaru. I didn't have the loader on Elvis so all I had was a blade on it It was a blast moving piles as big as a small car. I hope to get another doozy like you got. I wouldn't even think about moving that much snow with my old C-160 unless the blower was on.

Nice job. The 520 doesn't even break a sweat. I need it up here in Wolcott CT.

Ken I am thoroughly impressed! :text-+1:

And for those of you who have been to Kens house up on the mountain.... Isn't it funny how tranquil and quiet it seems up there.... I was up there and his neighbors were as quiet as a mouse...And then there is Ken..... Lol Romping around, revving chainsaws making a racket! lol :ychain:  :banana-tux:

That looked like more fun than work.  Your tractor sounds as good as it looks.

I'm actually pretty well behaved. I won't fire up a chain saw before 9am (if and when I need to cut some wood up) and its a pretty rare occasion that I make any excessive noise. When I do I always try to get it done quick. I'm one of the first to get aggravated due to an unruly neighbor. Knowone has ever complained, with the exception of my wife. :)

Ken - is the rear end of your tractor modified at all? It looks like it's a limited slip or a locked differential???? I see two wheels pushing the tractor as opposed to one..........
