Tankman 3,516 #1 Posted February 27, 2013 I have a clevis hitch that'll fit my '90 520-8. I have this from either my '68 Raider 12 or '73 12hp Automatic. Question(s): Where can I get a diagram for cable placement? I'm guessing, I can use stranded cable with crimped on binders. How long should the cable be? Do I need a "tube" guide (yes, I guess)? Rock farmer 41 #2 Posted February 27, 2013 I believe you will need a tube and a rock shaft to go under the seat. Joe
6wheeler 598 #3 Posted February 27, 2013 The tractor probably already has a tube on it. Look up above the axle just a little left of center and you will see it (if it has one). You will need a rock shaft. I just used an older style and fabbed it a little to work. I picked up the bushings at ACE Hardware for about $3 bucks. I tried making cables but couldn't get the cable clamps to work without being in the way. I just ended up buying one from Toro along with the proper ends. It turned out to be cheaper than all the cussing and swearing trying to re-adjust my homemades to make them work.

dcrage 623 #6 Posted February 27, 2013 These parts would work for my tiller -- Correct?? And do any of the three listing (cables, lever assembly, chain, etc.) (especially the lever assembly "rock shaft") will work on my 1990 310-8 &/or my 1987 418-A???? Any opinions of which of the lever assembly styles are better?? I know these are basic (stupid??) questions; but this has always been a mystery to me
TT-(Moderator) 1,131 #7 Posted February 27, 2013 The clevis hitch kits are grouped by tractor design. Model numbers for the clevis hitch kits are 85513, 85514, 85515, 85517, & 85518. The lever assembly with three slots incorporates a "travel" position (maximum lift) that can be adjusted relatively easily & without tools - simply by moving the chain to the slot closest to the cable. Although many lift parts are shared between the hitch kit and the tiller lift, the tiller lift parts are actually listed on the IPL with the tiller .
