c160 clutch rod

 my first potential buy of a c160 has some issues.   the "clutch rod" is apparently broke on this tractor.  im assuming this is the rod that goes from the foot pedal back to the trans axle?  what would cause this to break? metal fatigue? excessive use? or a bigger problem with the rear end?   any input is greatly appreciated

Difficult to image that the rod broke. Do you have this tractor? Where are you getting the info? Can you get some pictures of the "break"?

this is just what the guy has told me.  im going to look at it sunday and ill be able to look and see exactly what is broke.   this is why im asking because i cant imagine this rod breaking either
