Hobby horses 95 #1 Posted February 17, 2013 Guys - I'm looking at a 877 for sale - I normally prefer newer and larger HP tractors, but this is a really nice, original unit. Everything is there, including deck. The metal is straight, tires are good, it runs and the deck works. It is in a small barn and I could not get a picture, but this tractor is clean. If I do buy it, I probably would trade it towards a newer and larger tractor. Is $400. too much to pay for this as described. Thanks for any input.
Kelly 1,029 #2 Posted February 17, 2013 With out seeing pics, and knowing more info, I'd say it's a bit high, it's a early hydro, before paying that much I'd want to drive it a lot to get the trans warm, and make sure it's good, has it been repainted, seat in good shape, lots of questions to be asked, and just to buy to trade off I don't think it's a very good deal, if it is real clean and orig. or a nice repaint, and you want a tractor to keep, it might be worth it.
rmaynard 15,417 #3 Posted February 17, 2013 I agree with Kelly. Without seeing any pictures, it's not easy to asses a value on anything of this nature. The 877 could be a nice project for someone, but they would have to buy it at a much lower price than $400. If you do intend to make and offer, then sell it, you could post it in our classifieds. By the way, where are you located? Saint Charles doesn't tell us much. I think there is a St. Charles in almost every state.
Hobby horses 95 #4 Posted February 17, 2013 Bob - I am located in St. Charles, Missouri. I know its tough to value a tractor sight unseen, but I do appreciate the comments. I wasn't really interested in the tractor until I saw how clean and original it is. The paint is original, the seat is good, it has the slot hitch, etc. I will probably make an offer and if successful post some pictures. Maybe a member will be interested in the tractor if i get it. Wheel-N-It 2,968 #5 Posted February 17, 2013 Another way to look at it is $400 is not alot of money to pay for a tractor you really like especially if its as clean and original as you say it is. Of course its good business to make a lower offer, but in the end if you really like it then don't let $100 seperate you from the tractor. You gotta be happy man!
