Machria 77 #1 Posted February 17, 2013 My lift valve part #8363 on my GT14 is leaking out the top (see picture). Anyone know where I can get a replacement, OR can it be repaired? Thanks...
meadowfield 2,595 #2 Posted February 17, 2013 Yes it can be repaired. The square section o ring seals can be removed and replaced. I overhauled mine last year...
Machria 77 #3 Posted February 17, 2013 Awesome, thanks. Where do I get the seal? Any special tools needed or just plain jane take it apart, put on seal and screw back together.... ?
meadowfield 2,595 #4 Posted February 17, 2013 I'm in the uk, so just went to a bearing/seals supplier and they had them in stock. The spool comes out by undoing the lock nut and screw at the bottom. Take care not to lose the float detent spring!
Machria 77 #5 Posted February 17, 2013 Thanks, you sure it was the same 8363 lift valve? I just found an O-ring kit for a lift vavle for WH, but it said it does not fit this "one piece lift valve".
meadowfield 2,595 #6 Posted February 18, 2013 yours looks like mine, a one piece casting with 4 ports in a diamond formation
Machria 77 #7 Posted February 18, 2013 Great, thanks.
Machria 77 #8 Posted February 21, 2013 So is there an O ring kit for this valve?
meadowfield 2,595 #9 Posted February 21, 2013 Can't help you I'm afraid... The parts are available in the uk, therefore they are fairly standard
Machria 77 #10 Posted February 21, 2013 Can't help you I'm afraid... The parts are available in the uk, therefore they are fairly standard Where they called "Wheelhorse O Ring Kit" when you got them, or where they just o-rings that matched and fit? Trying to figure out what I should be looking for. thanks.
meadowfield 2,595 #11 Posted February 21, 2013 I just took the old ones into a bearing shop, they measured them and got me some in after a couple of days.
pfrederi 17,886 #12 Posted February 21, 2013 I haven't opened my valve up yet, but, WH didn't make them they bought them. I would assume the O rings are a standard size. You could measure them and buy replacements at a good hardware store. Or look in the yellow pages for hydraulic service places. Just take your valve assembly in I am sure they can fix you up. (The more garbage trucks out side the hydraulic repair place the better!! )
meadowfield 2,595 #13 Posted February 21, 2013 They are square section, otherwise it would be a very easy fix!
pfrederi 17,886 #14 Posted February 21, 2013 They are square section, otherwise it would be a very easy fix! Are they like the backer O rings used in the Sundstrands between the pump and the hydro motor?? In any event a hydro shop would have square rings as they are not uncommon in hydraulic land.
