plow help/paint

I have a 88' 312-8 i picked up an older plow for it. my problem is that when i lift it up it does not come up enough, i took some links out of the chain, tightened the I ring, and i also fabricated my own read end bracket. when i pull up on the lift bar my plow only raises about 2" off the ground. any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated

Also, what color red would be for the 88' and what brand/supplier has it, and where can i buy it

Lots of opinions on the color red. Just use what looks good to you.

On my plow, the lift range is only about 2" as well. I wish it could go higher too.

Check which hole trunion is in. The manual says to move it to the end hole of the lift bar on the rockshaft for more height.

Check out the equipment manuals in the files secion for snow blades.

I looked up this one that shows the same info as my blade manual.

by the way what paint do u use and where do u get it, toro uses apple red is that the right color for the wheel horses

If you do a search on paint, you will find more info than you can imagine. It is one of the most talked about subjects on the forum. I'm not sure about the 312 "red", but most guys try to get close to IH Red. But don't take that as gospel. Do a search for "wheel horse red paint". If you are confused now, just wait until you're done reading.

i went to NAPA and they mixed me up a qt of apple red and that was the closest they could get to OEM, what i am trying to figure out is the specific paint color for the era of my 312

Wheel Horse used multiple (different) colors through-out the years.I don't think anyone actually know what the actual colors were and what they were called.

As stated above, use what you think matches. I use Rustolium Regal Red in rattle cans. If I had the equipment (and expretise) I would buy the Regal Red in quarts and spray it with a hardner.

About 2 inches off the ground is as good as it gets with my moldboard plow.

I used new toro red touch up spray cans, and new toro red out of a gallon can. Even those colors didn't match each other.

(BTW-don't waste your money on toro paint.)

Toro paint is expensive. I've been happy with IH red in Rustoleum Farm and implement paint
