Have learned one thing today .. dont drive ur tractor whitout belt guard

Recommended Posts

Lars

Hey Guys i just thougt i would share this whit you.. LOL dont drive ur tractor whitout belt guard if you have a midengine tractor.. i did it to day..and well i can tell you it hurt's

I did it because i have changed the engien pulley on the 551 to day.. and i should just give it a test drive.. my foot slipped from the footrest and down to the ground then the pulley/belt snagged my pants..

and slammed my leg in to the pulley.. so it ended whit a trip to the doc to get some stitches.. so KEEP UR BELTGUARD ON.. it is a reason why they made it!!!!!

Those little 4 horse Kohlers just seem so innocent.

I had one upside down on me a few years ago

no fun and they will run that way till someone grounds the points.

Sure glad your OK. They are sure little monsters at times.

Lars, hope you get well soon and I am glad it wasn't worse than what it is.

I also want to thank you for sharing your experience because since my accident a couple of days ago my mind is now racing through all kinds of possible injuries and their causes.

I am also guilty of using a RJ without belt guards. It happens to be my grandson's favorite tractor and I can't keep him away from it. I have always been self-conscious when he is next to it while it is running, worried about his little hands. Guard needs to be a custom one (longer than stock) so I never got around to make one.

I can tell you now, that thanks to you that tractor will never run again until such a guard is in place. However sadly, at least there is some good that comes from our misfortunes, in the form of real lessons learned from them.

Get well soon.
