Scored A Nice Seat (plus a bonus) for the 701

Negotiated a deal on a square pan seat for the 701 last week. When it arrived today, I had a pleasant surprise.

Here is the seat. As you can see, the paint is in excellent condition except for where the rust is, but it is also exactly the same color as the under side of my hood.

The reason that the paint is in such good condition is because of the surprise. The seat was never without this.

The seller included this original Wheel Horse seat cover that I think must have been purchased with the tractor new and never removed.

I just noticed something about the seat cover that I had not noticed before. I appears that on the underside, written very lightly on the foam rubber padding was what appeared to be a price. So I got out the digital, took a couple of pictures, then enhanced the image. This revealed the following:

It seams that a seat cover back in the early 1960's sold for $4.00.

yes but we use a draw string instead of a elastic band to hold the cover on

Very nice, the bonus I usually get is a mouse nest somewhere on the tractor! And sometimes the lively creatures do not bounce/blow off on the trip home.
