Wheel-N-It 2,968 #1 Posted January 27, 2013 Some of you may remember I bought my first Black Hood just before Christmas. Its a 1984 C-125. Overall it ran well, but I kept having this problem with it not getting enough gas to the carb. It was a one owner. Owner was deceased, and it had not been run for some time but did have a new fuel pump installed to get it running so it could be sold in that (running) condition. Anyway, I bought it and played with it some. I thought whatever problem it had would work itself out as it did need to be run and have some hours put on it. I did the normal stuff to it (for me) like changed the fuel lines and cleaned the fuel tank and installed new fuel filter and cleaned the carb bowl. Still had the same problem with it running out of fuel. So the next thing for me was thinking the fuel pump was bad. I discovered it was not the correct pump. It was pumping veryvery little fuel. Just enough to keep the K-301 running (mostly). So I bought another fuel pump, installed it and finally was getting some gas to the carb. Enough gas that it was pouring out the front of the carb! So I thought the float was bad or the needle was stuck in the open position. Next move of course was to remove the carb, remove the bowl and check the needle. Thats when I found out the needle was MIA!!! Evidently the defective fuel pump was pumping just enough fuel into the carb to keep it running good most of the time but starved for fuel some of the time. Anyway, a quick trip to the spare Walbro carb pile and I had a needle in hand. I then installed it in the C-125 Walbro #52 carb, cut a new gasket, Installed the carb and had the C-125 purring like a kitten. Feels good to have that behind me. Also feels good to be sitting near the old Buck Stove I love my wood burner What did you guys do today?????????????????

Wheel-N-It 2,968 #3 Posted January 28, 2013 Yes it was a good ending Jack. Overall I had alot of LAGT stuff going on in 2012. Things were getting a little too hectic for a while. There were all these projects going on at once, and I had to keep plowing through it. I'm just now getting to where I can sit and breathe and enjoy the finished work. Its funny how the person I bought the C-125 from must have dropped the needle in the process of getting the tractor running. If the pump was delivering the proper amount of fuel, he would have know right away there was a major flooding problem. But because the fuel pump was delivering only a small amount, the engine could run without there being a needle to regulate fuel capacity in the bowl. I wonder where the old needle ended up??? LOL we'll never know.
tunahead72 2,400 #4 Posted January 28, 2013 Sounds like a good day, Van. I'm glad to hear you got your fuel pump and carb issues straightened out. And pretty much any day that ends up with sitting near a wood stove isn't all bad. Since you asked... I woke up this morning thinking the house was cold, didn't hear the usual friendly oil burner noises, checked the thermostats and realized that the house really was cold. After about an hour of hoping my oil line was just a little frozen (it's been very cold here for the last week or so), and sitting on the ground aiming a hair dryer at the tank end of the line, and having my son hit the reset button every few minutes, the burner finally fired up and thankfully has stayed on all day. I then had to rehang the door to the kids' bathroom that I repaired yesterday, and fortunately it fit exactly like I wanted it to. And then the reward, I took the kids to the Philadelphia Auto Show. I dreamed about my next truck/SUV, my son talked to a couple of tuners about his new-to-him 2012 Mustang GT (like it doesn't already have enough freakin' power), and my daughter tried to convince me that she has to have a Mustang too, maybe a Shelby. No idea where they get this fascination with cool cars from. All told, a good day. No wonder I'm tired.
