Removing choke handle/knob?

Recommended Posts

Kevbo

So the choke handle/knob is missing on my C-81 and I have another choke cable with a real knob on the end. Can these knobs come off so I don't have to replace the whole cable? Any trick to getting it off? I don't want to beak it but should it just pull off the end?

The simplest way is to lay a thin strip of wood across the dash panel and use a claw hammer to pry off the knob. (the wood strip keeps the hammer from marring the dash and it's also a good fulcrum)

If the control lever isn't fastened to anything, I clamp them in a vise.

They are best removed when warm.

Don't forget that RedSquare has a very good search engine when looking for answers to questions like this.

Here are a couple of threads that I found by searching for "knob removal".
