TT-(Moderator) 1,131 #2 Posted January 6, 2013 I don't have a listing for #296103, but I do show a #296108 carburetor. 296108 Carburetor Assy. (Remote Choke - Mechanical Governor) Used on Model 60400 Series type Nos. 0188, 0189, 0190, 942165, 942239, 942246, 942248 It was $11.80 in the November 1966 price list. I'm pretty sure a model 60400 would be 2hp.
bowtiebutler956 649 #3 Posted January 6, 2013 Bowtie, that is a small one piece flow jet carburetor, which I don't believe ever came on anything larger than 3hp. I did some looking thru a bunch of old Briggs engine manuals, and couldn't find that part number listed for any of the engines I looked at, but the manuals I have to look at don't go past about 1960. I do know that these type of carbs bring pretty good money on ebay, so if they were cheap enough, they'd probabally be a good investment. Sorry I couldn't help more. Good Luck. Trouty56 565 #4 Posted January 6, 2013 looks like 296108 on the box to me anyway....
TT-(Moderator) 1,131 #5 Posted January 6, 2013 looks like 296108 on the box to me anyway.... It is. It's also a small two-piece Flo-Jet ~ not a one-piece. There isn't even a #296103 in the price list. The information I provided in my first reply is directly from my B&S dealer book. Here it is in .pdf ~> http://www.m-and-d.c...ms4258-0679.pdf

Here is a pic of a small two piece flow jet, which most of my old engines use. Matt
TT-(Moderator) 1,131 #7 Posted January 6, 2013 Exactly - the main carb body is two pieces. The one-piece has the removable 'tin' float bowl. One-piece:
bowtiebutler956 649 #8 Posted January 6, 2013 I stand corrected! Man, I hate being wrong! Thanks for getting me set straight TT. You'd think after all this time fooling with these old Briggs engines, I would have known that by now. I've worked on the one piece flow jet many times, but never even realized they were considered a flow jet. Matt :flags-texas:
