B-8074 19 #1 Posted December 31, 2012 Has anyone added removable extensions to a snow blade? Something with a slight angle to it to keep the snow from coming around the sides.
Stormin 9,980 #2 Posted December 31, 2012 I've not seen anything like that, not even on big machines. Wouldn't the build up of snow be to much?
jusjeepn 59 #3 Posted December 31, 2012 There was someone here a few years ago who did this, but the search feature here is not finding it or I'm not typing it in right. It would have been on the old R/S sight.
SousaKerry 501 #4 Posted December 31, 2012 You mean like the truck mounted plows have that fold in hydraulically? I have thought about it but never tried it.
jusjeepn 59 #5 Posted December 31, 2012 These were a pin on/bolt on combo like the original wings were made for residential snow plows.

Butch 194 #11 Posted December 31, 2012 That blackhood looks pretty nice. The problem those sides would have is when you want to tilt the blade left or right to move the snow out of the way. The snow would be stuck up against the blade and it would tend to trap more snow.
B-8074 19 #12 Posted December 31, 2012 Scroll down, and check out post #100 in this thread. That's what I was looking for. Thanks. That blackhood looks pretty nice. The problem those sides would have is when you want to tilt the blade left or right to move the snow out of the way. The snow would be stuck up against the blade and it would tend to trap more snow. I see your point about angling the blade. What I really need is to make the plow wider. Go from 42" up to 50"or 60". And thanks for the compliment on the tractor. I still plan on getting some black on the hood but working the tractor has got in the way.
