Tim 97 #1 Posted December 30, 2012 snowblowing last night with a c141 auto, tractor just quit (with the PTO engaged if it helps with solving the probem). won't do anything (yes I did disengage the PTO) won't turn over, not even clicking i can't find any broken wires seems like it has to be electrical, switch under the seat is 6 months old PTO switch is about 10 years old (but if it was that why would it just shut down while blowing ignition switch wiring connection seems clean and tight ideas??? TT-(Moderator) 1,131 #2 Posted December 30, 2012 Check the wire connections on the amp gauge.
855ownerJoel 32 #3 Posted December 30, 2012 Did you check the battery? They can seperate and cause an open circuit. I would also double check your seat safety switch, try a temporary bypass. Since its not even turning over, sounds like safety switch or shorted battery if no other wiring issues found.

yankeebob79 0 #6 Posted December 30, 2012 Hey Tim. mine did the same thing and it turned out to be the main fuse to the switch.exact same symptoms. replaced the fuse and she fired right up. not sure what caused it but it's been working fine since.
Tim 97 #7 Posted December 30, 2012 i don't think i have a fuse there is no fuse cluster? like on the 300 series tractors the only fuse i know of is one i put in for the headlights
TT-(Moderator) 1,131 #8 Posted December 30, 2012 Bypassing the ammeter won't hurt a thing.
yankeebob79 0 #9 Posted December 30, 2012 ok, sorry, my mistake. didn't look at what your working on. I would check for power at the ignition switch first. if there is power, check to see if any of the wires go hot when you turn the key to the on position. also, as previously stated, make sure the battery is grounded and the engine is as well. KC9KAS 4,741 #10 Posted December 30, 2012 Do you have a safety switch on the PTO?
roscoemi 245 #11 Posted December 30, 2012 On my C-121 I have an inline fuse right by the starter cylinoid(?) that blew and caused the very same thing. Had a shorted tail light that blew the fuse.
Tim 97 #12 Posted December 30, 2012 got it running did a few things really not sure of root cause if i had to guess it was the ammeter wire the new battery had no charge thanks to all
leeave96 487 #13 Posted December 30, 2012 I was going to guess that if you were running the tractor and then wouldn't crank afterwards it could be a drained battery. Question that needs answered now is - are you charging now that you are running again. Good luck, Bill
