18hp briggs and stratton v twin.

I am new to this, and I was wondering what I could do to my engine to get more power out of it. I have an 18hp v twin briggs and stratton.

If cleaning the carburetor doesn't help I would try changing ignition module the vanguard has two.. If its weak it can run good with no load and be a dog when loaded. You could check the plugs after pulling it hard to see if they are clean or carboned up. This can also tell if one is bad.

yes the vanguard twin, it is on my work horse gt -1848. The main purpose for this machine is now pushing snow, and I am looking to get it running better, if possible. It runs ok now, I am just looking at doing some small things to increase the performance if possible.

I think the Vanguard twins work quite well in stock form.

It is possible to get 50hp out of what once was 16 or 18, but you need a big wallet. :blink:

Are you sure you have a vanguard v twin? That model came factory with an 18 hp opposed twin Briggs engine.
