fourwheels0 191 #5 Posted December 29, 2012 smoreau what is the difference between a 400 and 550?. is it just the 400 came with a kohler 4hp and the 550 came with a 5.5hp tech?. i know it's missing the exhaust heat shield (i know they are expensive to replace) and has a custom belt guard on it he made. it needs front tires badly. the inner side wall is shot on one of them. they do have tubes in them though. does it look like anything else is missing? or not correct?. it has a tech motor on it and i'm not sure if it's correct or original. the guy i got it from said he had it running a year or so ago so hopefully it won't take much to get it back up and running. fourwheels0 191 #15 Posted December 30, 2012 i put the plow on and did a little more cleaning. it's on charge now but i don't know if the battery will take a charge. i'll give it a few hrs and see how it does. hope to have it running soon. whats the best way to remove the carb for cleaning?. take off the hood? or just work under it?. wallfish 16,967 #18 Posted December 30, 2012 That is a nice clean specimen. Just a note for you. The factory set up for the dozer blade used a foot pedal that connects to the pin with a small chain to pull it when angling the blade. A small rope like clothes line is used that hooks to each top corner of the blade with S hooks and drapes around the steering wheel. Push the pedal to release the pin and use the rope to pull the blade for changing the angle from the seat. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

wallfish 16,967 #21 Posted December 30, 2012 Foot pedal goes on the right side. Pretty simple design. I have one so I'll get you a pic but it's not installed on a tractor. The chain goes from the bottom of the pedal and through the hole in the mount and then connects to the pin. It's like a small dog leash chain that they used. fourwheels0 191 #22 Posted December 30, 2012 aaarrrggg i hate electrical stuff. even more hate people that leave stuff outside to rust and corrode. tractor won't start. solenoid just clicks. i cleaned all the terminals,connections ect. battery has 12.6 volts and even with the charger set to 50 amp boost it just clicks. well it looks like it may be time to totally rewire this thing and hopefully have no more electrical issues. did i say how much i hate wiring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Use a jumper cable from the starter terminal to the battery, if it won't turn over you may find that the starter brush springs or brush retainers are rusted up.
