Lawn Ranger plow help needed

I bought a 1967 Lawn Ranger for my son for Christmas and need some help hooking up the snow plow. I could find no numbers on the plow, but assume there is a bracket to bolt the pivot point to the frame.

I'm thinking it should bolt up in the area under the motor where holes are located and the front deck swing arms mount.

I'm going to look at the attachments forum to see what I can find, and contact Kelly to see if he has any ideas. If anyone has pics or one they are willing to part with please let me know, as I would really like the plow on when my son finds his special present from Santa. Russ

After searching, I believe the plow is part #6-3111 (supercedes bdr-385). The bracket part number is 4123 and the wear bar number is 5863.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the info. the link has great pics and I can fab them to the print, but will not get them done in time for Christmas.Just another chance to work with Porkchop and teach him some fab skills. He will be excited to get his own 'Horse, but to work on it to get it plowing snow may send him into parts unknown! Thanks again guys! :thanks:

i had to make those brackets for my lawn ranger snow blade too, used that print and they work great, i used 5/16" instead of 1/4" because i had it

That is technically the MA-1 (8-5211) speed hitch - the predecessor to the Tach-A-Maticâ„¢, which preceeded the Attach-Maticâ„¢. It is also assembled backwards as pictured.

I have never attempted to install the Lawn Ranger blade in the speed hitch. Is there enough clearance for the latch?

Well I just this morning shipped him the solid side plates so he should be all set, but I do wonder if the speed hitch will work?

The photo with the quick attach was when I first got my plow and Lawn Ranger about five years ago.

I recall that the plow would lock on to the plates with the spring lock but I never used it to plow with. I bought two sets of original flat plates afterwards and that is what I have been using.

I looked around this afternoon and I still have the later vervsion quick attach but I can not find the locking arm to go between the plates.

So we I should probably put a BIG MAY WORK On tis one!!

Negative - I just checked a latch from an 854 speed hitch against a Lawn Ranger blade and it doesn't fit. :confusion-shrug:

I wasn't trying to stir things up.

I know that the latches on the speed hitch (and later versions) burn up an extra 1/2"+ between the side plates. I thought the LR blade was a snug fit between the side plates, but wasn't home earlier to check it out.

Thanks also to the others who took the time to help me out! Some good info there. Do you suppose that a speed hitch could be modified or one fabbed to work with a 1/4" spacer on each side to make enough clearance? Is the pivot bar the same diameter to work in the speed hitch?

You'd have to widen the latch assembly enough to clear the blade mount and shim the side plates away from the tractor frame to match.

The mounting rod is 3/4" and will fit in the speed hitch slots.

Already planned, she will be out there and ready. I'm gonna try to get one to modify or duplicate so it's wider to make the plow easier to take off for joy rides between storms. He will worry it to death if he doesn't get seat time. He has about wore out the hinges on the cab doors of mine "checkin to make sure everything is ready"! I hope that Ranger is good on gas or I"ll be broke in a week or two!

I'm not sure the stubs of the shaft on the plow, will extend all the way through the latch and the hitch on the speed hitch, can you tell me how much shaft you have sticking out? and I can see if it might work.

I'll try to get some dims tommorrow but, we're lookin at a foot of snow starting in the afternoon so it might not happen. I guess there is about 3/4" on each side which can be modified. I would just like to make an easier/faster way to mount the plow as he will run the wheels off this tractor when he gets his little paws on it. If i can get a speed mount along with a regular set of brackets, I can figure something out and post the results.

BTW, P'Chop has run the wheels off the Ranger! If he doesn't get seat time he gets all kinds of upset! He is now the plow guy, and I better get over it!  lol
