Butch 194 #1 Posted December 6, 2012 I just seized the mower deck idler pulley and smoked a belt. Do you guys oil the bearing at all or just let it go? It would seem that it would need some sort of lubrication. Thanks.
Don1977 604 #2 Posted December 6, 2012 They need to be replaced, I usually replace mine when it sound rough before destroying the belt. I last one I bought from a Toro dealer a year or so ago was $18.
Butch 194 #3 Posted December 6, 2012 Don I just got one off Ebay which was around $15 including the shipping. The old one seized up solid. I didn't know if spraying WD40 on them would help or not.
Kelly 1,030 #4 Posted December 6, 2012 They are sealed bearings unless you open the seals up, oiling them will do no good, WD-40 will not last only 2-3 min. anyway at the speeds the pulley spins.
