Dakota8338 115 #28 Posted June 4, 2019 Folks, right at this instance there is a reprint of four different sickle mower manuals for Wheel Horse sickle mowers CBR-32, SMS-505, SMS-50 & SMS-42A. SMS = Side Mounted Sickle mower. I don't have a sickle mower for my Wheel Horses, actually never heard of one before reading this thread, but thought I would pass this information along for anyone which might be interested.

js5020 111 #30 Posted June 4, 2019 Those center mowers look pretty simple in construction. How was the quality of cut?
Lane Ranger 10,943 #31 Posted September 7, 2020 (edited) CBR-327 owners need this information. This CBR-327 front cutter bar made in 1967 should have a pto set up that uses a 3 race pulley with needle bearings and grease fitting ( like the one on front of 196/ and later gear driven mower decks). I had to take one from an old deck . There are two V belts needed to operate this. One from the motor drive pulley to the frame side plate PTO setup. 27 x 1/2. Belt and you use the regular mower idler and engagement pedal on the right foot peg. The other V belt goes from PTO to the chain drive pulley. That is a 21 x 3/8 V belt. I have a Hein Werner hydraulic pump to lift the cutter bar on my 701 so I have another couple issues. The original lift bar is 12 inches long. I found the cutter bar would run even when not engaged with the idler pedal. The belts had just enough tension to do so. So I used some all thread and placed it about ten inches long as a new lift bar. The cutter bar shuts off when lifted now.
