Ken B 3,164 #1 Posted November 11, 2012 I met with Charles today and we did the old swaparoo. I got a 633 and a 61 Burban and lots of "extra's" outta the deal, he got a C-161. The plans for the 633 are to try to find a coil for it, (hint hint) get her going and leave the tractor as it is as a worker, hauling fire wood and pushing snow as my main snow machine. From my own experience, the 633 will handle most of the snow that we get. Anything the 633 can't handle I'll have the 520 on stand by. The plans for the Burban are a custom job for my son Cole, nothing crazy, just custom enough. This will keep him off My 60 Suburban Custom. The Lauson won't be used, I have a nice lower hr. K91 Kohler that is going to take its place. I pulled the deck and motor off the Burban today and degreased the tractor. I'm going to do all fab work first and then take it all apart for rebuild and restore.
rydogg 186 #2 Posted November 11, 2012 Very nice haul!! I believe the 633 could have had a couple different coils...not sure if you need to get the same one or if any of them will work. PM sent
AMC RULES 37,125 #3 Posted November 11, 2012 Love the classic lines that 633 has.

CRE1992 135 #6 Posted November 11, 2012 Thanks again for the C161! I look forward to plowing with her! Those front wheel weights look good on there lol. Btw the 633 has a pull start kohler k141 if I remember correctly. Good luck with them Ken. I hope they both work out for you. and I hope Cole stays happy... You and Steve might have a son rivalry going on who has the best/fastest Burban. Btw the 5000w Kohler Generator I got fit perfectly by just sliding the C161 over the wheel well. And it runs and works great! Definitely a 5 hour trip that was worth making. Sorry fellas, no pictures of the C161 or generator on my end, I got dropped off at college on the way back from CT -Charles
AMC RULES 37,125 #7 Posted November 11, 2012 Can we see the Kohler gen set Charles?
Ken B 3,164 #8 Posted November 11, 2012 Always good to see you Charles! The C-161 should be good to go, just add plow, weights and chains. (And snow!) And, thanks much!
TT-(Moderator) 1,131 #9 Posted November 11, 2012 The coil for the early magneto (built by Bendix-Scintilla, I believe) used on the 141 in the 633 would have been Kohler P/N 230075. At one time there was a retired Kohler parts specialist in WI that still had a few in stock @ close to $70 each. Finding a newer complete magneto ignition set-up might be the best (and only?) way to go these days.

CRE1992 135 #14 Posted November 12, 2012 Can we see the Kohler gen set Charles? She runs great! However she is getting a new muffler, I am not dealing with a loud obnoxious pepper pot! She is just dusty. I will clean her up and tune her up when I get back from school. Here you go sir:

Ken B 3,164 #21 Posted November 13, 2012 Been doing lots of work on the Burban. My son Cole has decided he wants to leave the paint as it is. That is good news for me! After some creative blending and weathering of the paint its looks pretty good where I welded a ton of holes on the hood closed. There will be quite a bit of custom touches done to this tractor which will take some time, the longer it takes the better! I hate being DONE with something. After changing the fluid in the diff. I actually fired her up and took her for a quick burn. Tranny seems nice! Here is the one owner C-161 Charles got outta the deal. I kept the rear discharge deck as a spare for my 520, Charles didn't need it. We really hated too part with the C-161 but the Burban and 633 are the kind of projects we were looking for. They should keep us busy deep into the winter. Thanks again Charles!
stevebo-(Moderator) 8,330 #22 Posted November 13, 2012 Charles got a very nice tractor out of that deal. I know the original owner of that C161 and he bought it at West End Power in Danbury,CT. That is the same dealer that has the NOS 420. It was very well cared for and I am sure Charles will dothe same (for at least the next 3 weeks until he flips it) lol (just kidding Charles!! CRE1992 135 #23 Posted November 13, 2012 Nice...is that a K-341 Charles? No, it has a K301 12hp... Most generators have a 2hp to 1kw rating. However the C161 has a 16hp K341 in it =]. I am getting yet another Kohler Generator thats is a liquid cooled 1800 rpm 4 cylinder 7.5kw generator with a transfer switch, a built in heater core, and an air compressor for just $400 in about 2 weeks! Talk about a smooth and quiet generator! I can't wait to get that one. Charles got a very nice tractor out of that deal.
