Eaton 1100 reverse question

Recommended Posts

Horse Fanatic

This question may have been asked in the past but I could not find it in a search. One of my tractors with an Eaton 1100 moves forward just fine. In reverse, it is slow to start moving and doesn't travel very fast. There appears to be no problem with the linkages, it is adjusted to get full movement of the cam plate in both directions. I'm at a loss as to why it will work well in one direction and not in the other. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Glenn

Have you removed the cam plate to clean the debris? Mine did the same thing, removed the plate, cleaned everything good (debris was acting like a spacer stopping full motion) put it back together and worked like new.

It would be best to get a copy of the Eaton 11 service manual and review the trouble shooting section.

The service manual suggest there could be a problem with the check valves.

There are springs and O rings that can go bad.

Always start with the simple things, clean, change oil and filter, lubricate. But that cam plate can become worn and will not function properly you can remove it and then move the lever coming from the transmission manually to test just to eliminate the linkage and cam plate question.

The tractor is totally clean, the oil and filter have been changed. The cam plate does not move further back if disconnected from the linkage going to the direction control lever (so it has full movement).

I'll look for an online copy of the service manual.

Thanks

I thought mine did too, but it had a ring of debris which stopped the actual full movement. It takes just a couple of minutes to remove the cam plate, to check. While there may be something else going on, that was the issue with mine.
