Zeek 2,286 #1 Posted October 16, 2012 I would like to find a nice set of 4.80x4x8 set of front tires. Can have a FEW dry rot cracks, but I'm looking for a set I can clean up and look nice. I'm thinking about a set of these http://www.ebay.com/...ssories&vxp=mtr for the front of Cheesegrater, but I'd rather find a set of more original looking tires. Let me know if you have something and you are nearby that we can do it w/o shipping :)
rmaynard 15,918 #2 Posted October 16, 2012 4.8 x 4 are pretty common tires. You should be able to find a good choice of new tires on eBay, Amazon, TiresUnlmited.com, etc. Even TSC carries them. If you want something used, you might want to give Dave a call up at Dave's Tractor World.
Don1977 604 #3 Posted October 16, 2012 Is this what your look for? http://www.millertir...one-turf-guide/
SNYFIX 13 #4 Posted October 16, 2012 Yes, thats a very common trailer/wheelbarrow size tire. Beware of tires from TSC tires/tubes though as they're usually cheap-cheap-cheap china ones (unless they've changed suppliers) ---

I was at two TSC's today and their stuff is all the wheelbarrow style in that size (at least here). Is this what your look for? http://www.millertir...one-turf-guide/ Actually I did look at these and would take them, except I was trying to spend a little less :eusa-think:

Here is the link to what they have on the shelf down here. http://www.tractorsu...--8-lrb-0303018 However, I think that the price is pretty high. I can get some from Maple Grove for about $20.00 Edited October 17, 2012 by rmaynard

Would you be able to send me a picture or a link of what Maple Grove has? I'm not familiar with them. you are about 3 hours from me and i have several sets of tires to get rid of, probably to far a drive lol Thanks for the offer! You are probably right on the travel time. littleredrider 409 #9 Posted October 17, 2012 I might have a set off my 854. Right now it's torn apart, waiting to get the axle back and hopefully start putting it back together for snow use. It has the original fronts on it. They have tubes in them and are filled. I'd have to look again, but don't think they are in bad shape. Some cracking, but kinda hard not to get that after 50+ years. If you want, I can get a close up pic. Also, Carlisle makes a trailer tire that is pretty close to stock fronts. They are radial too, so won't blow apart making some high speed passes. ...I paid $20 apiece then sold 'em....

Thanks for the other info. I may end up going with the ones in my original post depending on what rmaynard and jdog come back with. I had the bright idea of wheelbarrow tires at first . . . boy did they look stupid, all round like with no shoulders
ray 10 #11 Posted October 22, 2012 Saw some at Walmart, only $12.96 each, not only cheap, but a little flimsy. Might work in a pinch until you can get better ones.
