C-175 Auto won't move at all now.

The drive belt is spinning the transmission fan so power is making it to the transmission. The hubs are on tight.

I've read from time to time about using the right filter. I put on a Baldwin filter last fall which crossed checked with the Toro filter. Could this be a problem? The oil is fine. Maybe 20 hours on it.

Pressure does build up because I put my wife on the rear hitch and it raised and lowered her with no problem.

The last few times I used the tractor it did have problems moving. After I pushed it a few feet it would work.

It did get a good workout for several hours using the moldboard plow.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Went back out and tried the tractor again just for the heck of it and it took right off!

I'm baffled.

Sounds like a sticking valve, is this a Eaton or a sunstrand?

Don't know. How do you tell the difference? The tractor doesn't have any identifying plates anywhere.

C-175 should almost all have Eatons The only Sundstrands on Blackhoods were early 1980. Halfway through the year they changed to Eaton, probably when the Sundstrands ran out. What is the model number of the tractor should be something like 01-17KE01 for 1980-1981, 01-17KE02 1982 and so on

It could be an internal problem between the motor drive gear and the differential but I would eliminate everything else before pulling the tranny and popping off the side cover to check it. There is a fairly good repair manual for the Eaton Transmission available with a lot of very useful info. It is available in the Yahoo manual groups have to do some searching I am not sure which one

The other day I started the tractor up and went to take off and nothing. The mower deck was in the down position. For some reason I raised the deck and the tractor took off!! Could it be something to do with the hydraulics?

the eatons do take some time before they will move, this is more true when it gets cold out,and some take a few minutes to warm up,but if it gives trouble when warm something else is wrong

Was this tractor operating just fine before this Baldwin filter?? I would invest in a genuine TORO filter and do a filter swap, top up the fluid and see what you have.
