Deere 322

Whoops, I did it again. Another John Deere has come into the fold. This one, a model 322 with a 46" deck, makes a nice complement to the 332 I procured earlier this spring. Instead of the 3-cylinder diesel Yanmar in the 332, this one has a gasoline version of the same engine. It is very smooth, very quiet, and has some funky automatic choke arrangement that lets it start almost instantaneously.

And I got a screaming deal on it.

I’m still a red guy, but man-oh-man are these 318-style John Deeres incredibly nice machines. The power steering is awesome. The sound is awesome. They seem to be carved out of a solid chunk of iron.

I have a 520H on eBay right now trying to clear some room. Forgive the pictures of the tractor on the pallet…I needed to use my truck this afternoon at work and this was the fastest way to unload it and have it ready to stick back in there later on.

Hmmm…what I really need is a forklift….at home.

One down side to these greenines is the engine that's trapped inside. If you need to work on it, you'll find yourself staring at a cluttered mess like this:

Lest you think I’m thru with reds, here’s another somewhat new-to-me machine that I am currently in the process of yanking the engine to replace an ignition module.

1998 Toro-WH 522xi w/52†deck. Kind of a Wheel Horse version of the 318 I suppose.

I'm with you on the 318 style machines! I have a 317 which doesn't have the power steering. These are big machines and are built like tanks. NIce score on the 322!

I just picked up a 420, while they look cramped, I don't find them all that hard to work on at all.

I love that 322. I have a JD325, but believe me. It is nothing like the 322. It in no way compares to your 322. I had a JD400 years ago, and sold it ( like a dummy ). It would have been an awesome LAGT with your Yanmar diesel in it!

Fantastic 322. One caveat on the Yanmar engines, the wiring on these machines can be faulty at times, the 322 more so than the 330 or the 332.

I have both a 316 Onan and a 318, so it's nice to be in the 318 club as well.
