Ken B 3,164 #26 Posted September 17, 2012 It looks like that poor old Deere had its heart ripped right out! You'll give it a transplant I'm sure and she'll be up and running thru the woods again in no time.
CRE1992 135 #27 Posted September 17, 2012 Definitely one ridden hard and put away wet. Actually Craig, I would have to disagree with that, the rest of the tractor is in excellent shape, however it sat outside for a period of time, and water some how got into the engine and froze. Thus cracking the oil pan and block.
520HC 208 #28 Posted September 18, 2012 Your 420 actually has a 1 7/16 crank, not 1 5/16. I at the present time have 4 of these beasts, 3 run , 1 not so much, but have 2 spare P220 engines, so I'm good.
baerpath 517 #29 Posted September 23, 2012 am still in the process of locating an engine. Even if I got a 20hp onan from a wheel horse I would have to tear it down anyways, as the wheel horse uses a 1 1/8th crank and the john deere uses a 1 5/16 crank for the pto. However the crank shaft I have is great. So I really just need a donor engine. Have a rebuildable 20hp from a JD in the barn if you need it Duane
