Guessing you have a '68 C9 or C12, correct? :confusion-shrug:

If you can't locate a good original style tank, another option is to change the tank tray to the 1969 & later version so you can install a plastic tank.

I'm pretty sure the big tank won't work if you have an early '68 C12 with the starter/generator.

There were concentrated mainly in the Kohler-powered '65 to '68 models. Finding a good tank shouldn't be impossible, but the prices might scare you. :hide:

Saw a WH steel tank on eBay recently, believe it was $25.

I had a steel tank w/o a cap, forum member sent me one, thanks.

Painted WH red, removed a black plastic over sized tank, installed the metal tank ('68 Raider 12,

12 hp Kohler, manual transmission).

The black plastic tank worked fine, was installed using ty wraps.

Barring any other solution,..... there are lots of gas tank sealing kits out there.

I have used one similar to this on an old outboard tank years ago.

seemed to work fine for several years until i got rid of the motor and lost track of it .

google "GAS TANK SEALER"

I am working on a 69 Charger and the original tank was cracked. I just want to warn you if you end up swapping to a later fuel tray that there are two very similar trays. One has a circular hole for the nipple on the fuel tank to pass through and the other tray has an oval shaped cut out. If possible I would go with the later tray with the oval shaped hole. That tray will allow you to run the much easier to find later fuel tank that used the wire retainer with a spring. I don't have part numbers on all of this but they should be easy to get from manuals that are posted online. If your starter solenoid is mounted to the bottom of your fuel tray you will have to drill holes in it to mount the solenoid.
