AMC RULES 37,134 #1 Posted September 1, 2012 While out tracking down some CL 702 parts this morning, I stumbled upon an early morning gathering of some big ol' farm tractors nearby in Montgomery NY. Unbeknownst to me, this gathering was for the 23rd annual General Montgomery Day tractor parade, only 20 minutes from by back door. I say to myself...humm, better check this out real quick. Took a quick walk around to discover...yep, not even one in attendance there. So here it is, eleven this morning, and the parade starts at noon. I've got just enough time to fly home, pick up the wife, load a tractor, and return to be the only little red horse represented in the parade. Man, what a show...I bet, at least 150 to 200 farm tractors took part, and mine was the littlest guy out there. Lots of love shown for my little 653 today, looked so cool out tooling around town with all the big guys. Easily an hours worth of seat time riding around town in the parade...who knew? If you're in this area, this is a great little show not to miss, wouldn't it be great to see our tractors turn out en masse next year...just a 20 minute ride to exit 5, west on Rt 84, past the Newburg Beacon bridge. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIC6X3RjBNE&feature=youtu.be

Short notice today, but I'll be ready for it next year, drop the deck, mount some dualies, and bust out the trailer for the wife to ride along with me. AMC RULES 37,134 #13 Posted September 2, 2012 Last but certainly not least, the big kahuna, to wrap it all up. Thanks to the Mrs. for enduring the heat and humidity, without her, the majority of the picts you see here wouldn't have happened today.
Terry M-(Moderator) 2,176 #14 Posted September 2, 2012 Thanks MRS AMCRULES! Nice pics. My favorite is Craig being chased by the local PD.

AMC RULES 37,134 #17 Posted September 2, 2012 Of course, you know Mrs. Craig likes that Denny. I still can't get over her following me in all that heat, with camera in hand, all the way to the gas station. You'll find those picts in the gallery.
squonk 41,319 #18 Posted September 2, 2012 At least she's wearing shoes with that engine pulley spinning a few inches away from her tootsies or is that how you keep your nails trimmed. Looks like you could almost drive that "Tecky Driver" under that Oliver. :)
squonk 41,319 #19 Posted September 2, 2012 I know what it's like having the only "little" tractor" among the big boys. We have a show here every Memorial Day. I park my tractor early in a good spot. I go out checking out everything else and come back to find the local IH club picked my tractor up and moved it somewhere else so they could have a prime spot! They could have popped it out of gear and rolled it but no, a bunch of guys grabbed it and just carried it like it was a toy. Never again. They are lucky I don't work a Napa anymore. When they came in it would be list price plus 10% :*****:
squonk 41,319 #20 Posted September 2, 2012 Hit and miss engines are so cool ! My favorite part is when they got them belted up doing something like pumping water or running a fan. Alexander N.Y, show is this week. Last year a guy had one rigged up so when the exhaust popped, it shot a Pepsi can into the air so it would ring a bell like the old carnival game. :happy-jumpeveryone:

AMC RULES 37,134 #22 Posted September 2, 2012 I know what it's like having the only "little" tractor" among the big boys. We have a show here every Memorial Day. In the opening video, after unloading...you see me haul a$$ down to the staging area where all the big boys were lining up for the parade. I purposely got right in the middle of the biggest tractors I could find...that is until I watched one of 'em pop the clutch and run into the rear of the guy in front of him. After that I made sure I stayed far enough in front of them, or off to one side, so I would be easily seen...and not squished. :)
