primer questions

What type of primer do you guys use with valspar paint.I like to use selfetching but i dont know if it will work with the oil base valspar. Was thinking Napa selfetch primer or rustoluem rattle can if I dont have the time to spray it.

My PPG rep has recomended using 2 part epoxy primer on sand blasted and lightly sanded metal. Cheaper than

etching primer, but the surface needs to be sanded. Been working fine for me.

I've used the Napa self-etch and Valspar IH red on everything so far.
