Wheel Horse cart

Recommended Posts

Martin

i recently bought this cart from mike (ol550) and he was kind enough to deliver it to the charlotte show earlier this month........

yesterday i figured it was time to get it looking a little better. knock out a few dents and the top on one side needed a little massage to get straight and looking ok.

i took it into work and painted it today. cart and frame in case red powder, wheels in terex white powder.... ( same colors i use for my tractors)...

i got some tires ( carlisle wheelbarrow) tubes and found a 60s pto knob that fit the thread of the lever.....

heres some pics of it before and after..

the first pics are what mike sent me before i bought it. they are the only ones i have of it complete.....

from the weight caution decal (black- same as the caution decal on my 42sd deck that came on the c125) im guessing its 1980s.....

it will probably get used behind my c125 most of the time. but the 1057 was easier to hood it to for a pic......

Cleaned that up real nice Martin! Those tub style carts have real nice lines to them. My daughter loves the one that goes with her tractor........of course my boy wants one for his tractor as well. Might have to come up with something else for him.

scott, i like the tubs because theres no sharp corners and angles. just seem to be a stronger unit when stamped in one piece.......

Nice. I've wanted one for a while now. But, are you going to use it to carry stuff? Wouldn't want to mess up the paint.

As always, very nice work Martin. Stevebo gave me a very nice tub cart. It's very straight and has been repainted a few times in the past. I've been contemplating giving it a very nice show type paint job. Only thing is, they are so easily scratched up when hauling them to a show, but you really got me thinking that I just might redo it.

It did turn out good for the amount of effort I put in to it. Lots and lots of rust pitting though, I really laid on the powder to try and smooth it out some. It's going to get used in the garden, so I'm not bothered if it gets scratched or ends up with more dents. That's what it's for, right?

If it was rust free with no pitting it might be a different story though.....

I use my cart at shows to haul goodies around. I coated the inside with the spray on bed liner. Not a factory look but functional.

Can't you get the bedliner in colors now?

For example...

Crimson Red or Red Wing Red? which looks closer to WH Red?

I don't mind the black. Got it down the street at Wally World.

i like the black liner, but seeing that the tub is powdercoat and reasonably tough it will probably stay red. when it gets all scratched up from use, i will just take it in and strip it and give it another coat.

hooked it up to the c125 tonight and took it for a spin......

I'm thinking either would probably work fine.

Looks great Martin.

And I can tell you one of these carts will fit nicely in the truck with the rear seats down in a 2005 Camry as I have brought two of them home that way over the last four years!

They are nice to have and the dump feature helps when you are hauling dirt and stone.

I I like the clanging sound of the trailer on back!
