bowtiebutler956 650 #1 Posted August 15, 2012 I own this engine now. A friend of my dads thought I might like it. I had a friend of mine pick it up in Oklahoma for me, and it will be here on the 25th. Its a really cool looking engine, and it says OMC on it, which I know OMC does boat engines, but most of the ones I've seen were actually made by a different manufacturer, and had the OMC name on them. That being said can anyone here shed some light on this awesome looking engine for me? It almost looks like an old Continental airplane engine, but smaller. I love the cast aluminum blower housing, with the exhaust exiting through it! Matt :flags-texas:

bowtiebutler956 650 #6 Posted August 16, 2012 Gonna give danny some power with that engine!!! ~Jake I was thinking maybe it would fit in the back of the Smart Buggy! What you think? If I can stuff it in there, it might be cool. A unique looking engine in a very unique looking buggy. Matt :flags-texas:

krazy_horse 59 #9 Posted August 18, 2012 I would like to see more of that smart buggy. How did it come about?
bowtiebutler956 650 #10 Posted August 18, 2012 I would like to see more of that smart buggy. How did it come about? It started life as a Kandi Coco electric car, made in China to look very similar to a Smart Car. There are quite a few on youtube you can see. I got it from a friend of mine, who got it cheap, and removed the electic motor, and added a 3in. suspension lift. His son in law was doing the conversion, and put a Honda GX340 11hp engine on it, so its very underpowered. I'll be fixing that soon. It has a title, and was licenced and insured not to long ago. I'm hoping to install this OMC engine in it. It weighs less than 1000lbs, so hopefuly this will get it moving a little better, although a 1000cc Hyabusa engine would be better yet! There is a Smart Car on youtube with a Hyabusa engine, and it looks like alot of fun! Here are a few more pics of the Smart Buggy. Matt :flags-texas:
