KC9KAS 4,742 #1 Posted July 27, 2012 I need a fuel cap for my D-200. Think I can find a replacement at an auto parts store, or are they specific to the Wheel Horse fuel tanks?

JackC 617 #3 Posted July 27, 2012 Here is one I bought for my D-160. Works fine. Save a trip to the store. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wheel-Horse-Garden-Tractor-Aluminum-Gas-Tank-Fuel-Cap-1960s-702-502-854-552-633-/271022388481?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f1a317501
wheeledhorseman 575 #4 Posted July 27, 2012 If your D-200 has an original size tank and you're looking for an original gage type cap then here's the one I used for mine. http://bluskies.us/fuelguages.aspx The OEM gauge was 13" long but the 1/4 turn 12" Kelch gage works fine (with a small invisible reserve). Kelch actually made the original gas cap gage for WH the only slight differences are an improved plastic float and it doesn't have 'gas' printed on the gage. JamesBe1 82 #7 Posted July 27, 2012 If you don't want one with a gage, then 1/4 turn gas caps are pretty easy to find. I picked one up at tractor supply. Any auto parts store should likely carry them too.
KC9KAS 4,742 #8 Posted July 28, 2012 Thanks fella's...Wasn't sure if the diameter was a common size. The thing I dislike about the caps with the gauge is they always get fuel into them and then turn yellow and you can't read the gauge anyway.
BillHouk 1 #9 Posted August 7, 2012 I just picked up a D-250 this past week with a broken gas cap w/gauge. Went to the local Wheel Horse Dealer and there NLA. Looked around my garage and found a cap for a 67'-72 Ford pickup works just fine! Who need's a gauge? No more than I need RAIN WATER in my gas tank !!! Good luck and Hope this info is helpful to some of you !
Tankman 3,520 #10 Posted August 8, 2012 Any leads for a metal gas tank cap, Raider 12, '68?
Leelee 0 #11 Posted January 6, 2018 Ahhh... the eBay link and the doesn’t work anymore :/ Anyone know if the D-160 is universal and do the caps with gages offer a no vent solution for no water to get in?
DavidP 9 #12 Posted August 12, 2019 (edited) These guys have the 1/4 turn caps with gauge. They have different lengths under different categories. https://www.shop.the-partconnection.com They carry one with a 13 1/2" length for the D-200 with the larger tanks. If you call and talk to Dean he will calibrate it for you.
