decksetter 50 #1 Posted July 25, 2012 I've got an old Case SC with carb trouble. I rebuilt the carb yesterday (never done that before, hope I did everything right??) and installed it today. The idle screw doesn't seem to do anything. To get it to run I had to turn the main jet out an extra turn or two, and that's making it idle at what sounds like half throttle. The tractor was already missing on one cylinder (not sure why, has since we got it). Even so I'd think I could get it to idle with the idle screw. What makes matters worse is I'm not sure what model the carb is. The tractor had a different manifold on it when we got it, so my uncle gave us another manifold and hood (because the old manifold went up through the hood, someone sawzalled a big hole in the hood for it). The carb is probably for whatever the manifolds came off of (VAC maybe? maybe a combine?) Anyway, does it sound like an adjustment problem or a "wrong parts" problem?
