Delco Remy starter/generator I.D. tag date code

Recommended Posts

I have received some info about the build date code on Delco Remy starter/generator I.D. tags. Just wanting to check if any member may know if it is correct. The tag is an oval shaped tag that begins with a group of seven numbers then a blank space then a group of four more characters, these last four characters are the code for the build date as follllows: First number is the ones digit for the year -- 3 = 1963, 4 = 1964..., Second the letter represents the month-- A = January B = February C = March ... L= December, Third & Forth numbers are the day of the month (no 00 or > 31). Please keep in mind the S./G. Build date should always be earlier. Than the tractor build date, if it is all original.

HELLO TWIN54, I WORKED AND SOLD FOR AC/DELCO FOR OVER 25 YEARS. YOUR CORRECT ON THE DATING, ACCEPT DELCO-REMY NEVER USE THE LETTER (L) . DECEMBER WAS THE LETTER (M) SO IT WOULD NOT GET CONFUSED WITH THE LETTER ( I). THE SEVEN DIGIT NUMBER WAS THE PART NUMBER. THEY MADE A FEW DIFFERENT MODELS OF STARTER/GENERATORS. SOME RAN CLOCKWISE AND COUNTER CLOCKWISE. I BELIEVE THE CUB CADETS CCW. PART NUMBER WILL TELL YOU AMPS AND ROTATION.
