Kelly 1,030 #2 Posted July 23, 2012 If I remember right it is one wire to a self grounding toggle switch, that is all the wiring they had, they are a pull start Kohler with nothing on them.

Kelly 1,030 #4 Posted July 23, 2012 Factory it was a pull start 6hp Kohler, your going to have to pick a model close and use that, say a 753 or 854 is it a starter gen engine?
CasualObserver 3,409 #5 Posted July 23, 2012 Then this diagram from a 753 might be what you're looking for?
horse junkie 18 #6 Posted July 23, 2012 No not starter generator gear starter can I use a 3 prong key switch say from a 1276
Kelly 1,030 #7 Posted July 23, 2012 Are you going to use a start solenoid? if you are you can use a easy to find switch from many tractors that use batt. ign. the 1276 the switch carries the start load, not sure if it will carry the curent the gear drive starter uses? where are you putting the batt.? the gear drive starter in that tractor fits right at the batt. tray. horse junkie 18 #8 Posted July 23, 2012 The way it is set up now there is a toggle switch to energize coil and the push button starter one side from battery other to starter.
Save Old Iron 1,566 #9 Posted July 28, 2012 This will work for you with the points based ignition system ignition switch shown in the diagram. The ignition switch and the starter relay would total about $30 at a farm and garden store. Sounds like you have everything else you need.
