squonk 41,067 #804 Posted July 11, 2016 Dennis and I go back about 25 yrs. Good friend of mine who was the funniest person I ever met. We used to go to Nascar races together. A natural talent. He got a speaking part in the movie Ironweed with Jack Nicholson & Meryl Streep.
tunahead72 2,412 #805 Posted July 18, 2016 I've been meaning to post up some Allman Brothers for a while now... As much as I love the officially released versions of this song, I just ran across this one on YouTube and thought I'd pass it on: And another one of my favorites from their early days, on vinyl no less, the way I heard it originally about x,000 times:
tunahead72 2,412 #810 Posted August 23, 2016 I was poking around on YouTube last night, and ran across some stuff from this young lady. Very impressive, especially for being only 15 at the time. She has several other videos there, including some very challenging covers of solos from guys like Eddie Van Halen, Steve Vai, Gary Moore, Yngwie Malmsteen, Beethoven (WTH?!?), ....
tunahead72 2,412 #811 Posted September 13, 2016 I was down in the mountains of Virginia this past weekend, enjoying a couple of brews Saturday night and listening to one of my favorite shows on Allegheny Mountain Radio. The DJ was playing his usual excellent mix of blues and roots rock, and at some point played this tune from a guy named Jim Suhler, who's played with George Thorogood off and on for many years. The song itself was fun, but the title and subject made me laugh, because it reminded me of one of my favorite people here on RedSquare. @stevasaurus, this one's for you:
stevasaurus 22,717 #812 Posted September 13, 2016 Ed, that is way to cool...Thanks for that. I just put up 28 gallons of Concord wine and sometimes I label the bottles when it is ready. I think you have given me an idea. Like I said....way to cool...Thanks BTW...I love that kind of music. Like the Ozark Mountain Daredevils.

tunahead72 2,412 #815 Posted September 13, 2016 Last one for now, time to get some dinner... By the way, many thanks to Larry L. and the rest of the crazies in my dorm freshman year in college for turning me on to this stuff. I have many fond memories of coming home from class in the afternoon to hear him playing along to this next song, or some Ten Years After, Mountain, James Gang, whatever. I was a naive little s**t, it was all new to me, and I loved it!
stevasaurus 22,717 #816 Posted September 13, 2016 Ed, I have quite a collection of the groups you just named above. No wonder we get along so good.
tunahead72 2,412 #819 Posted October 12, 2016 A cool little tune from Buddy Flett and Kenny Wayne Shepherd, from Kenny's 10 Days Out CD (there's also a DVD as part of this package, with Kenny & Buddy playing this song at Ledbelly's grave):

tunahead72 2,412 #825 Posted November 28, 2016 This tune's been runnin' through my brain for a couple of weeks now, ever since Leon passed. I always loved the Joe Cocker version, but I think I like this one even better...
