Jeff-C175 7,200 #1802 Posted August 24, 2021 (edited) In a similar vein to Colter Wall song above... I like NBB's version a bit more: Edited August 24, 2021 by Jeff-C175
tunahead72 2,412 #1803 Posted August 25, 2021 You guys have given us all some great tunes to explore today, thanks for posting! I'll have to get some time by myself to fully appreciate them, maybe tomorrow. In the meantime, this was my introduction to Sturgill Simpson a couple of years ago, never even heard of him until then, but I'm listenin' now:

I had a 76 Chevy 4x4 with a 400 in it and a girlfriend that was a senior. We about wore that that cassette out, brings back some killer memories!!!

formariz 11,987 #1809 Posted September 1, 2021 Countless great guitar players out there but very few that the instruments seem to be part of their bodies from the effortless, seamless playing, which creates a tone that can immediately unmistakably be identified as theirs only. Probably only a handful have ever existed that such can be said about. Stevie is definitely on that exclusive list. A joy to listen to and if one was lucky, a sight to see and and be hypnotized by. I was lucky to have had that privilege.
tunahead72 2,412 #1810 Posted September 2, 2021 Very well said Caz, and I absolutely agree. I was also one of the lucky ones to see him play live, it was wonderful! We're leaving for a road trip later this morning, so I don't have time to write much more here, but at some point I'll share a couple of my favorite SRV memories.

tunahead72 2,412 #1822 Posted September 21, 2021 Way back in the late '80's and early '90's, a buddy of mine used to create cassette tapes for me from recently released CD's, because I had a cassette player in my VW Bug and no CD player (yet) in the house. He did a really nice job of creating moods with these tapes, much like artists used to create moods with the albums they put out in our younger days. One of these he titled "19911", being the first of several tapes he made for me in the year 1991. And to this day, I can't hear the last piano notes from this first song without fully expecting to hear the opening guitar riff from the second: 1

I do have a much greater than average appreciation for the appropriate positive energy one can put into, and get from, the right organization. If it makes you and yours happy and whole without bringing down someone else, go at it! I'm all for it..
